Yes, you can wear pimple patches during the day β even with make-up. Thin, low-profile hydrocolloid patches sit close to the skin, so they're easy to blend. The secret is applying the patch before your make-up, on clean, dry skin.
Step 1: Prep the skin
Cleanse, then apply your usual light skincare around the spot, not on it. Keep the area where the patch will go free of moisturiser, oil and sunscreen so the patch can seal properly. Let everything settle for a few minutes.
Step 2: Apply the patch
Choose a patch that just covers the spot. Smaller dots (8β10 mm) are the easiest to hide. Press it gently for a few seconds so the edges are flat.
Step 3: Layer make-up lightly
- Foundation: use a small amount and press it on with a sponge or fingertip rather than rubbing, which can lift the edges.
- Concealer: dab a little over the patch edges to blend them into the skin.
- Powder: a light dusting of setting powder takes the shine off and helps the patch disappear.
Tip: Avoid oily or balm products directly on the patch, as they can loosen it. Water-based or matte formulas work best.
Step 4: Throughout the day
Try not to touch the area. If the patch starts to lift, it's better to replace it than to press it back down. Carry a few spare patches β they fit easily in a purse.
Step 5: Remove at night
Remove your make-up as usual, then gently peel off the patch. Cleanse, pat dry and apply a fresh patch for the night if the spot is still active.
Would you rather go without make-up?
Patches are discreet on their own too. Many people wear them bare-faced at home or overnight, then switch to a fresh one under make-up for the day.
