Which pimple patch size should you use?

A simple guide to pimple patch sizes and shapes — 8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm dots, cheek patches and XL forehead and chin patches — and how to pick the right one for every spot.

3 min readSize guide

Using the right size of patch helps it stick and cover the whole spot. A patch that's too small lifts at the edges, and one that's far too big is more visible than it needs to be. The rule is simple: choose the smallest patch that covers the whole spot with a small margin around it.

The Cavon sizes

Each box contains 454 patches in five sizes and three shapes:

  • 8 mm round (162 patches): tiny spots and early blemishes. The most discreet option under make-up.
  • 10 mm round (162 patches): the everyday size for a typical single spot.
  • 12 mm round (108 patches): larger single spots or two spots very close together.
  • 33 × 23 mm cheek patch (16 patches): a contoured shape for clusters on the cheeks or jawline.
  • 60 × 30 mm XL patch (6 patches): larger areas on the forehead, chin, chest or back.

Quick size chooser

  • Small spot on the nose or chin: 8 mm.
  • A typical spot anywhere on the face: 10 mm.
  • A bigger or wider spot: 12 mm.
  • Several spots close together on the cheek: cheek patch.
  • Breakouts on the forehead, chin, chest or back: XL patch.

Tips for a good fit

  • Leave a margin of about 1–2 mm of patch around the spot so the edges seal on clear skin.
  • On curved areas like the nose or chin, smaller patches stick better than large ones.
  • Don't cut patches, as cut edges lift more easily. Pick a different size instead.
  • Make sure the skin is clean and completely dry before applying.
