HY300 PRO+ setup guide

First-time setup for the Cavon HY300 PRO+ projector: unboxing, positioning, Wi-Fi, focus and keystone, apps, Bluetooth audio and connecting HDMI or USB devices.

7 min readSetup

Just unboxed your Cavon HY300 PRO+? This guide takes you from the box to your first film. It only takes a few minutes.

What's in the box

  • HY300 PRO+ projector
  • Remote control
  • Power cord
  • User manual

The remote needs batteries. Check the user manual to see which type.

Step 1: Position the projector

Place the projector on a hard, level surface facing a plain, light-coloured wall or screen, between 0.6 and 2.5 metres away. The further away it is, the bigger the picture. Use the 180Β° rotating stand to angle it towards the wall or ceiling. Keep the vents clear.

Step 2: Power on

Connect the power cord and switch the projector on with the power button or the remote. Follow the on-screen prompts to pair the remote (if asked), and to choose your language and region.

Step 3: Get a sharp, straight picture

  • Keystone: auto vertical keystone straightens the picture when the projector is tilted up or down. Fine-tune it in the settings if needed.
  • Focus: use the manual focus control until on-screen text looks crisp. Refocus whenever you move the projector.
  • Size: move the projector closer to or further from the wall. You can also use the zoom setting to shrink the picture without moving it.

Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi

Open Settings β†’ Network (or the Wi-Fi icon on the home screen), choose your network and enter the password. The HY300 PRO+ supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6. If your router has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, 5 GHz is usually faster when you're close to the router.

Step 5: Open your apps

The projector runs Android 14 with built-in apps. Open a compatible app such as Prime Video, Netflix or YouTube from the home screen and sign in with your own account.

Step 6: Sound

The built-in 5W speaker works straight away. To use a Bluetooth speaker, soundbar or headphones, put the device in pairing mode, then go to Settings β†’ Bluetooth on the projector and select it.

Step 7: Connect other devices (optional)

  • HDMI: connect a laptop, PS5/PS4, Xbox, Fire Stick or TV box, then choose the HDMI input.
  • USB: plug in a USB drive to play your own videos and photos.
  • Phone: see our guide on connecting your phone.

Troubleshooting

  • Blurry picture: adjust the manual focus and check the distance is within 0.6–2.5 m.
  • Wi-Fi won't connect: check the password, move closer to the router and restart both the router and the projector.
  • No sound: check the volume and mute, and whether a Bluetooth device is still connected.
  • Won't power on: check the power cord is firmly connected at both ends and try another socket.
  • Switches itself off: make sure the vents aren't blocked and the projector is on a hard, open surface.
